Main Street as Old Growth Forest presentation by Catherine Nasmith
Only one year ago Meaford council established our Heritage Conservation District on Sykes St. and in less than a year has amended bylaws paving the way for demolition of a significant portion of the district. The Meaford branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO Meaford) has worked tirelessly in attempts to protect the heritage character of our district. Catherine Nasmith,
http://www.cnarchitect.ca/, president of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, has been invited to present a very informative talk on the economic and environmental value of maintaining and preserving our built heritage.
Ms. Nasmith is a renowned architect specializing in heritage rehabilitation, planning, and advocacy. She has written many heritage articles, publishes an e-journal
Built Heritage News and has worked on heritage panels for Toronto and Stratford. In 2013 she was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal for her work in Ontario Heritage.
If you are interested in learning more about why communities like ours need to preserve our Canadian built heritage please attend this very informative lecture.
